Positions and Distances in the Galaxy

A guide to reading a galactic address and understanding the distance calculated between two points on the map.

Reading a Galactic Coordinate

A planetary address identifies a planet on the continuous map.

The displayed address may be N56 45 26. In the single input field, enter N564526. The letters from A to Z are reading guides: they do not draw boundaries or determine a game zone or proximity. When the account is created, the player receives a free, colonizable planetary slot.

Navigating the continuous map

The Galaxy view shows a continuous disk with no solar systems to navigate. Drag the map to move it. On desktop, click inside the map first to focus it, then use the four arrow keys to move the view. On mobile, drag with one finger and pinch with two fingers to zoom. Zoom buttons are available on both platforms.

The minimap lets you move to another area by clicking or dragging. The recenter button returns the view to your active planet. These movements do not change the planet you use to prepare your missions.

In search, enter an address such as N564526 or a username, then select the result you want. Filters let you choose which categories of elements are displayed. If an object seems to be missing, check the area you're viewing, the filters, and the zoom level.

Zoom uses a multiplicative scale: starting at ×5, a click can select an object at the point you click; interest halos appear from ×6, and details of the visible area appear from ×15. The list in the right-hand panel describes the elements in that area, not a solar system.

Select the target itself before preparing a mission. A free planetary slot may offer colonization or an Excavation; a Breach allows exploration, and a debris field can be selected for recycling. An apparently empty space is not necessarily a colonizable slot. If several objects are offered for an address, choose the right one and check the displayed destination before launch.

Calculating the Distance Between Two Points

Distance depends on the actual positions of the origin and destination on the continuous disk. The server calculates the Euclidean distance in milli-units, then applies the navigation curve. At an effective speed of 15 000, the reference duration is about four minutes between neighboring points and 75 minutes to cross the disk. The minimum duration and its exceptions are detailed in Travel time calculation.

A planet is identified by its address. An object outside a planetary slot, such as a Trading Post or a Debris field, retains its stable identity and actual position; the game does not invent a planetary address for it. The archives G:S:P remain available as archives, with no automatic redirect.
