Space battles against Errants can create Debris fields; ground battles do not. For the common rules on field creation, player ship and defense rates, coordinates, and field accumulation, see Debris Field Formation. The specific rules for losses of Errant ships are as follows: their contribution varies according to the player's actual permanent losses, including crew members actually lost. Galactic catch-up and the Errant's threat level can also affect the amount of debris generated; when it is defending, 10% of the value of its destroyed defenses is included in the reference calculation.
The contribution base for Errant ships is Iron 5%, Crystal 5%, and Aether 2%. The Aether contribution is reduced by 60% relative to the reference calculation for that same resource, before rounding. The reference economic floor is not reapplied after this adjustment.
In a grouped space attack against an ordinary Errant, the component from its ships is doubled when at least three participants each dealt 10% or more of the total damage. Khar’Zul does not receive this bonus. This component remains capped at 80% before the threat bonus and can never exceed 100% of recyclable losses. Debris from player ships and defenses is not doubled. The common rules on coordinates and accumulation are in Debris Field Formation; see Recycling Mission for recoverable contents and collection.
