Specialized Devices

This page describes the roles of specialized devices and links to reference articles on Pillar missions, orbital drilling, and Weave Resonator production.

Roles and Uses of Specialized Devices

These are technical units with fixed statistics, unlike ships. Each serves a primary mission involving espionage, ground transport, recycling, drilling, or the operation of Pillars.

Examples:

  • Space Probe: space espionage;
  • Ground Drone: ground espionage;
  • Small Transporter and Large Transporter: transport via Pillars;
  • Recycler I and Recycler II: recycling of Debris fields;
  • Drill: orbital drilling on mining planets; see mission details;
  • Weave Resonator: see Weave Resonator production and use.

The eligibility rules for devices used in Pillar missions are detailed in the Pillar mission manifest.

Device production and recycling use the universe's specialized-device speed, even when recycling goes through a shipyard queue. This speed does not affect the duration of Debris field recycling missions, which continue to use fleet speed. The rules shared by active and queued batches are detailed in Construction, research, and queues.

Orbital Drilling Details

The requirements, capacities, rates, and mission rules for the Orbital Drill are covered in the article on mining planet operations.

Building and Recycling Weave Resonators

The production and use of Weave Resonators, along with the limits on building and recycling them, are covered in resource production.
