Protecting Your Empire While You're Away

Protect your fleet, army, and resources while you're away. For the natural production sanctuary, see the protection rule.

Keep Your Fleet in Flight While You're Away

A fleet in flight is technically untouchable. The real risk is leaving it docked while you're away or momentarily distracted.

On Aleryos, there are no moons or moon destruction. A fleet already in flight therefore cannot be intercepted through this kind of mechanic.

In return, attacks can be very fast. Depending on the distance and speed involved, a planet where your fleet remains docked can be attacked in as little as 2 min 30 s. So stay alert when your fleet is stationed on a planet.

To protect it, make a habit of sending it out on a flight when you log out or can't monitor your account. You can send it toward one of your own planets or toward an external target, depending on your goal.

To cover a longer absence, add a slow ship to the fleet. The overall speed depends on the slowest unit in the group, which lets you extend the travel time and adapt the flight to how long you'll be inactive.

Also use the interstellar sensors: they let you view incoming and outgoing fleets, so you can react more effectively when a fleet approaches or an important movement is underway. The “Locate in Galaxy” button centers the map on the fleet's position when clicked, if its trajectory is available. Clicking a fleet on the map opens its sensor details and keeps the usual reminder for your eligible fleets. In Settings > Server, you can hide enemy attacks in Sensors while they are still too far away; they automatically reappear there as soon as they enter the selected time window. This filter does not hide fleets on the map: attacks targeting you and Errant attacks targeting your allies remain visible there.

Keep Your Army Safe

A large army must either be defended by an Iris or a sufficient force, or sheltered on a planet whose Pillars are disabled.

You can also activate a Pillars’ Force Field on this planet. This protection depends on your opponents' research levels and does not guarantee that it will block every attacker. An Iris remains useful behind the field.

In Aleryos, your population can include assault units. These units are used to attack, but also to defend your planets against ground attacks.

The first method is to avoid leaving a large army on a planet that isn't adequately defended. If the planet isn't protected by an active Iris, or if the army there isn't strong enough to deter an attack, you can become a target for one or more players.

The second method is to station your army on a planet whose Pillars are disabled. As long as the Pillars are disabled, that planet cannot receive a ground attack through the Pillars, which temporarily shelters your army.

To move your population to a planet protected by closed Pillars, use your fleet to send ships on a Transport or Deployment mission. This lets you bring your units in when you're not using them, then send them back out when you need them.

You can also send your population to a trusted ally. They can keep it temporarily and make it available at the right time, for example to prepare a shared alliance army.

Limit the Resources You Leave Exposed

To protect your resources, you can spend them, load them into ships in flight, or temporarily entrust them to an ally who can protect them.

On Aleryos, space and ground attacks can put resources, ships, or population on a planet at risk. Resources protected by the production sanctuary are temporarily invisible to espionage and cannot be looted; see the sanctuary rule to learn which resource flows are covered, the inactivity threshold, and how long this protection lasts.

The most direct solution is to spend your resources before you leave, reducing what can be recovered.

The other method is to load them into ships and send that fleet on a flight. As long as the resources are aboard ships in flight, they are protected. Sending them toward one of your own planets is generally the simplest and most common way: your resources stay secure while remaining available when you return.

You can also temporarily entrust resources to an alliance member who can protect them.
