In Aleryos, your faction gives you no power at the start: it unlocks a tree of 7 skills that you purchase with Echoes. Your first faction change is free, and you keep your rank.
Five factions, five ways to play
Each faction corresponds to one branch of the game. They all have the same costs; the difference comes from the skills you unlock afterward.
| Faction | Branch | Motto | For players who... |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solarian Crown | Fleet | “Nobility, legacy, and order” | want a strong combat fleet and more missions |
| Ferrenne Legion | Pillars | “Endurance, honor, and conquest” | focus on ground combat and troops |
| Helioris Syndicates | Industry | “Progress, industry, and influence” | want to produce more and defend their planets |
| Luxian Directorate | Research | “Reason, strategy, and control” | play around technology and intelligence |
| Veridian Conclave | Exploration | “Faith, discipline, and truth” | enjoy exploring and bringing back resources from the field |
Each faction's skills
Here are the 7 skills for each faction and what they improve. Each skill can reach level 5:
| Faction | Skills and effects |
|---|---|
| Solarian Crown | Spatial Assault, Reinforced Hulls, and Naval Shields improve your ships' attack, hull, and shield. Fleet Command adds simultaneous missions. Efficient Reactors reduce Aether consumed in flight. Imperial Projection speeds up your flights. Naval Shipyards shorten construction time for ships and components. |
| Ferrenne Legion | Population Assault, Defensive Doctrine, and Cohort Shields improve your troops' attack, defense, and shield. RT Logistics reduces the Weave Resonators consumed by Pillars. Mobilization increases Soldier production. Cohort Levies speed up recruitment, and Optimized Rations make it less costly. |
| Helioris Syndicates | Energy Networks increase energy production, and Industrial Extraction increases resource production. Expanded Warehouses increase hangar capacity. Defensive Economy reduces the cost of defenses. Building Cadence speeds up buildings, and Rapid Fortifications speed up defenses. Armed Bastions improve the attack, hull, and shield of defenses. |
| Luxian Directorate | Research Cycles speed up research, and Light Protocols make it less costly. Advanced Energy increases energy production. RT Resonance increases Weave Resonator production. Structural Optimization improves attack, hull, and shield in all battles. Optimized Propulsion speeds up your ships. Luxian Cryptanalysis improves one espionage operation of your choice. |
| Veridian Conclave | Expedition Mandates add explorations per day. Field Extraction raises the reward cap for each exploration. Astrium Resonance increases the Astrium found on explorations. Expedition Navigation speeds up your fleets. Rallying Survivors increases the population found during ground exploration. Accelerated Reconnaissance shortens explorations. Adaptive Doctrine improves attack, hull, and shield in all battles. |
Luxian Cryptanalysis works differently. You activate it, then launch an espionage operation of your choice: its report gains one Espionage level. The skill then recharges, and the higher its level, the faster it recharges.
A concrete example: if you mostly focus on the economy, the Helioris Syndicates increase your production and shorten construction times. If you like attacking, the Solarian Crown improves your ships' attack, hull, and shields.
Echoes and ranks: two separate progressions
- Echoes: purchase skills
Skills are purchased with Echoes: 16 for level 1, then 40, 100, 220, and 500, for a total of 876 Echoes for one skill at level 5. You earn Echoes by voting for the game, through the Activity Bonus, mission streaks, and certain explorations.
Your rank, on the other hand, increases with faction experience, which you never spend. You earn it from missions, events, and victories against PvE factions. Your rank unlocks skill levels (level 2 at rank 6, level 3 at rank 12, level 4 at rank 20, level 5 at rank 35) and increases your capacity:
| At rank 50 | Base | Cap |
|---|---|---|
| Active missions | 1 | 11 |
| Active explorations | 5 | 14 |
| Active Excavations | 2 | 9 |
So you may have enough Echoes for a skill and still have to wait until your rank unlocks it. The six ranks range from Line Aspirant (ranks 1 to 10) to Chosen of the Crowning (rank 50), with Seal-Bearer, Weave Watcher, Pillar Commander, and Throne Pretender in between.
Changing factions
Your first change is free. Each later change costs 40,000 Astrium, and you must wait 30 days between changes. Your skill tree resets to zero, your spent Echoes are refunded, and you keep your experience and rank. A Pillar Commander who leaves the Ferrenne Legion for the Luxian Directorate remains a Pillar Commander and rebuilds their skills with their Echoes.
There is no free reset outside of a faction change. Choose with the way you play over several weeks in mind.
Heroes: Mira Venn and Naël Soryn
- Mira Venn — Excavations
- Naël Soryn — Hacking
Two heroes are available under Faction > Heroes. They are independent of any faction and can reach level 20. Each has a specialty and two accessory slots.
Mira Venn, an archaeologist-cartographer, accompanies Excavations. Each level improves positive outcomes and shortens the Excavation by 0.5%, for a 10% reduction at level 20.
Naël Soryn, a Pillar cryptanalyst, leads Pillar Hacking. The higher his level, the less likely he is to be detected by the defender's Naël. He earns 400 XP per hack.
An Excavation accepts only one hero, and a hero on a mission cannot change accessories.
The Forge and accessories
The Forge is a tab on the Faction page. It assembles hero accessories from 15 identical fragments found during Excavations. Most accessories can then be upgraded from rank I to rank V, with 5 fragments and rare Excavation resources at each tier.
| Accessory | Effect |
|---|---|
| Mnesic Atlas | Chance to double a fragment received, from 5% to 13% |
| Stratigraphic Scanner | Adds site statistics to the report for 12-hour or 24-hour Excavations; fixed effect |
| Command Codex | +20% to +40% hero experience |
| Spectral Decoder | More precise Hacking report on known forces (Naël) |
| Trajectory Synchronizer | More precise PvE faction timers in Hacking (Naël) |
Your Forge inventory is kept if you change factions. The Forge also crafts the Planetary Stabilizer, explained in the planet colonization guide.
If you're coming from OGame
OGame offers three classes (Collector, General, Explorer) and lifeforms. Aleryos factions play a role similar to classes, with two differences. A faction grants nothing by default: you build its tree one skill at a time. And there are five doctrines instead of three, including one focused on Pillars and ground combat, which no OGame class covers.
